To understand the wealth of experience our company can bring to your projects, I want to begin with giving you a history of our organization. In the early 1980s ASCO Masonry, Inc. was formed by Jon Smith Sr. Throughout the 80s and early 90s, Jon's focus was to create a mid size masonry and management company. ASCO Masonry, Inc. was born out of the need to supply qualified masonry sub-contractors to fulfill the ever growing demands of the projects that were being created in the western region of Colorado. During this decade Jon created a corporation that was small enough to allow him to keep a hands-on approach in constructing his projects, all the while providing professional project management and administration. In 1994 Jon D. Smith joined the company after graduation from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in finance. During this period the company was based out of Carbondale and was completing commercial masonry projects in the Roaring Fork Valley along with developing and constructing masonry projects throughout the Western Slope. After gaining valuable field experience, Jon D. moved into the office to assist in managing day-to-day business operations which included managing several custom residential projects and commercial projects. In 2001 Jon Sr. and Jon D. branched out into another area, developing and owning another small business (Big O tires of Greeley), Jon D. moved to Fort Collins at this time to manage this business as well as continuing to develop masonry opportunities in that area. Jon D. continues to manage the Big O business along with maintaining an active role in ASCO Masonry, Inc.

Jerry Groves was brought into the organization in early 1990 to help manage field operations for ASCO Masonry, Inc.; Jerry continued in this capacity until his death in 2003.The Groves family and Smith family have been friends and business associates since the mid 1980s.Brian Groves graduated from Mesa State College in 1994 with a degree in environmental remediation. After graduating he began working for ASCO Masonry, Inc. in the field on several masonry projects. In 1995 he branched out into a different area of construction and began working with MARCAL construction. During his employment at MARCAL he functioned as project superintendent on several large commercial projects then as project manager on still more commercial and residential projects. In 1999 he decided to take on a new venture and founded Groves Masonry and Construction. This company focused mainly on commercial masonry projects and high end custom residential projects. All during this time Jon D. and Brian were in almost daily contact with each other on ways to combine all of their experience into one company that would benefit from all of their different strengths and experiences. In late 2005 Jon D. and Brian began formulating a plan to bring all of this together. In early 2006, ASCO Masonry, Inc. acquired Groves Masonry Construction, Inc. thus bringing Jon Sr. Jon D. and Brian together as principals of ASCO Masonry, Inc.
